“ "Groovy Island Pizza Co" is a virtual brand operating out of what used to be Straw Hat Pizza in Alameda's Marina Village. Straw Hat is gone, and now it's a sports bar. But I'm guessing they still have pizza ovens, because there's a really good pizza kitchen there. Groovy Island Pizza gets 5-stars for VALUE alone! I ordered a Mushroom & Sausage Medium pizza, added pepperoni and more mozzarella, and the price was still under $20! Of course the price adds up as you pile on the toppings. First, this is a virtual brand and not a ghost kitchen. This is simply a real business selling pizzas over delivery apps. For some reason, they're using this crazy name. I ordered a medium "Mushroom & Sausage" Pizza. Then I added Pepperoni and more Mozzarella Cheese. Price $18.95. That's a medium pizza with 4 toppings. It was hellya good! It had my basic requirement for a good pizza....a thick blanket of cheese. Crust was soft, but lightly crispy. Even with pepperoni and sausage, it was not overly salty. It was just a good pizza, at a fair price. ”
